Christian, Gospel, Religious
Tennessee, United States
Overall Impression: Fronted by a truly astounding vocal performance courtesy of Carolyn Wright and richly populated with an abundance of harmonically adventurous progressions and equally fascinating melodic elements, "Lord of All" is what I can best describe as Gospel turned up to eleven. Perfectly blending its elements of soul, R&B, jazz, and rock together with the utmost finesse and panache, this is a strikingly accomplished piece of writing that confidently refuses to hold anything back. From its utterly captivating performances to the towering feeling of grandeur it so effortlessly evokes, "Lord of All" is a masterful display of soaring creativity and ardent dedication and I was truly spellbound from start to finish.
Strongest Point(s): Let's begin with the utterly captivating lead vocal performance by Carolyn Wright. The sheer power and technical proficiency on display is quite simply jaw-dropping, not only does Carolyn show exceptional control over every facet of her vocal style, but it's the way she makes it sound so effortless. Not many are gifted with the ability to hit those strikingly high notes with such masterful precision and impeccable intonation, but Carolyn makes it look like a breeze. It certainly helps that the music that accompanies her is of equal strength, the main implied chord progression is further refined by some excellent jazz induced harmonic flourishes, replete with well-implemented passing chords, adventurous chord substitutions, and ultra-hip sounding chromatic shifts, there's plenty for both casual music lovers and avid music aficionados to enjoy here and like any great gospel track, they will leave feeling terrifically uplifted by the experience.
Target Audience Appeal: Gospel fans who like their songwriting injected with some inspired jazz and rock elements will find "Lord of All" a fascinating listening experience.
