Audio J Project - Saxing It Up
Dance/Electronica, House
United Kingdom
Overall Impression: Superbly produced and lathered in style, Audio J Project's terrifically funky house track "Saxing It Up" is one of those tunes that you'll find increasingly difficult to stay still too, the groove factor is most certainly high with this one that I can tell. With its brilliantly layered arrangement and sheer sonic flamboyance, "Saxing It Up" serves as a tantalizing showcase of super-fly melodic excitement and inspired creativity.
Strongest Point(s): Whilst "Saxing It Up" is rhythmically tight and definitely has that pulse-raising quality that every energetic house track should ideally have, there's never a feeling of roboticness that can sometimes plague dance styles, there's a particularly loose feeling to the overall groove that allows each and every distinct melodic motif space to breathe within the arrangement, helping to create an organic flow to the songs many exciting phrases. Alongside this engaging sense of rhythm, melody has been treated with the utmost importance and whether it'd be the exciting interplay between the various vocal and sax lines or the way in which melodies have been carefully fragmented across the instrumentation, creating some compelling moments of question and answer, the overall flow of the arrangement has this strong feeling of dynamism that effectively propels the song forward. All too often great writing can be let down by a sub-par recording and overall mix that quite simply doesn't do it justice, thankfully, this is most certainly not the case here. It's clear a great deal of care and attention to detail has gone into the production aspects of "Saxing It Up" and as a result, each and every element and spark of creativity has been brilliantly captured and presented to the listener the way it deserves, resulting in a sonically exciting mix that has both great detail and clarity.
Target Audience Appeal: "Saxing It Up" is a brilliant example of what the dance/electronica genres have to offer and can certainly see this appealing to lovers of these styles greatly.
Artist target suggestions: Goldfish, Dimmi, Daft Punk, MGMT, Moloko, Justice, The Chemical Brothers, Breakbot, deadmau5, The Fog, Noizu, Klingande, Shiny Goose, De Hofnar, Dimmi
