Overall Impression: How I do love a nice juicy slice of jazz-funk fusion! The bass is poppin', the groove is bustling, and the sheer melodic flair on the show is dazzling. Joe Jam Sumrell and Day Seven's utterly jammable "MisFit" is an exemplary Jazz-Funk tune that combines sheer instrumental virtuosity with an ear-catching sense of musical creativity. Joe Jam Sumrell and Day Seven have cooked up a melodically captivating and wonderfully adventurous track that is bursting with style, so much so that I felt compelled to pick up my guitar, plug on in, and join in on the fun! Excellent!
Strongest Point(s): The performances are quite simply electrifying! The chemistry between these performers is staggering, there's a flamboyancy to the way in which each and every melodic and rhythmic idea bounces off one another that really brings this arrangement vividly to life, so much so that "MisFit" feels like that one conversation that you just can't help but feel compelled to join in on. The staggering level of creativity that underpins the track is sensational and this is most prominent in the thoroughly jaw-dropping instrumental interplay that occurs throughout, including gloriously groove-enriched melodic unison sections and the fantastic use of counterpoint. Every idea and musical quirk is given a great sense of rhythmic bounce that allows the track to adopt a staggering level of groove that you'll find yourself tapping your foot and nodding your head to, a great sign in my book!
