Crimson Crux - Hollywoodland
Rock, Hard Rock, Pop Metal, Christian
Kentucky, United States
Overall Impression: Electronica, hard-rock, pop-metal, and even lashings of goth-infused industrial styles combine together in a fantastical whirlwind of pulse-pounding rhythms, hard-hitting synth, and earth-shakingly good riffs in this highly enjoyable genre-bending piece of songwriting. Crimson Crux's "Hollywoodland" is an insightful look into the many trials and tribulations many struggling artists face in the often uncompromising and supposedly "glitzy" world of Hollywood, this is a track that paints an honest and un-airbrushed picture of an industry that can be both ruthless and overbearing, and Crimson Crux have done a marvelous job if depicting this through a brilliantly flamboyant track that is undeniably catchy and well put-together.
Strongest Point(s): When dealing with a number of different styles, it can be all too easy for contrasting stylistic elements to begin to overshadow one another, however, I believe Crimson Crux has done a fantastic job of balancing their varying genre inspirations both effectively and successfully. Whilst "Hollywoodland" can be seen as a predominately hard-rock-driven tune, this is wonderfully embellished by elements of pop, synth-rock, and even goth-inspired qualities, creating a powerhouse of a sounding track that possesses a clearly unique sense of identity and personality. It's clear to see that dynamic duo Nathan and Tanya Petty have great chemistry and their combined passion for writing and performing really comes through the music. With Nathan's accomplished writing and Tanya's accomplished vocals, the end result is a fantastically conceived rocker that confidently strides as it demands its listeners to pay attention to all the captivating things it has to say.
Target Audience Appeal: Lovers of hard rock and alternative styles will surely find "Hollywoodland" to be a rewarding listening experience.
Artist target suggestions: The Pretty Reckless, Ghost, The Dark Element, Dead Posey, Edenbridge, Second Still, Hante. Dorothy, Welshly Arms, ZZ Ward, Royal Deluxe, Black Pistol Fire
