Paul Golian - She Says
Folk, Rock, Alternative
Michigan, United States
Overall Impression: "She Says" is a lovely piece of indie folk from singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Paul Golian. This wistfully romantic track is highlighted by Golian's strong melodic sensibility, and features washed out guitars, light synth tones and softly cascading piano figures that complement his warm and gentle tenor vocals. "She Says" should have some appeal with folk and pop audiences alike, thanks to its delicate and dreamlike qualities, as well as the refreshingly earnest nature of the lyrical content.
Strongest Point(s): Solid production, decent mix. Excellent melodies at play here. Brilliant song structure, the bones are sturdy. Nice arrangement and instrumentation, very textural and well layered. Vocals have a very intimate and charming sound. Great choice of synths, and the piano adds a lot of rhythmic and counter melodic character. Guitars have a wonderful ethereal quality about them. Good beat design, the kick and snare cut through the mix with excellent clarity. Thoughtful lyrics that are aptly reflected in the music. Very nice bit of song craft, and a solid effort all around.
