ANIA - Cereal
Pop, Synthpop, Alternative Pop
Budapest, Hungary
Overall Impression: "Cereal" is the retro influenced new release from Hungarian pop songstress ANIA. This track employs wobbly synths, pulsating bass and vintage electronic drums to create the perfect backdrop for ANIA's captivatingly powerful vocals as she fearlessly confronts an ex-lover in this anti-love song. Carefully layered backing vocals round out this arrangement that reverently recalls the haze of the 1980s, while still managing to maintain a wholly contemporary and modern vibe. Pop fans across the board shouldn't hesitate to check out ANIA's "Cereal", particularly those with a penchant for classic synth-pop.
Strongest Point(s): Great production, solid mix. Wonderful retro character. Nice synth choices, likewise with the drums. They have the sound of classic Roland V-drums. Excellent dynamic variation in the arrangement, by the mixing and matching of different elements. Outstanding vocal performance and production, both with the lead and the backing vox. Those backing vocals add some amazing rhythmic and harmonic textures. Great lyrical content, cutting and honest, very cathartic. Fantastic track overall, terrific work!
