Overall Impression: "LaLaLa" is a fresh and exciting new release from LOFI PLAYERS, from their upcoming full length album THE INJECTION (FUNK IN LOFI VOL.2). Funky bass, wah-wah rhythm guitar, and warm Rhodes electric piano unfold amidst a lively and spirited groove, setting the stage for the soul stirring group vocals on this neo soul composition that's highlighted by an incredibly infectious hook and a multi layered arrangement that fuses elements of jazz, soul, and Latin music to forge a wholly unique sound that sets this track apart. LOFI PLAYERS' "LaLaLa" is absolutely certain to turn heads, and should garner plenty of attention from soul and r&b audiences alike, thanks to its genre blurring nature and extremely hip character. Definitely keep an ear out for the soon to be released THE INJECTION (FUNK IN LOFI VOL.2).
Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Great tonal balance. Fantastic palette of sounds and blending of styles here. It's simultaneously funky, soulful, and jazzy. Phenomenal overall energy and oeuvre. Bass sounds amazing, nice round tone and kinetic rhythm to the figure. The Rhodes provides a nice harmonic bed and sits well in the mix. The guitar parts add interesting color, loved the light jazz runs and fills on the lead. Amazing groove that lies somewhere between nu disco and Latin jazz, the auxiliary percussion meshes nicely with the drum kit. Superb vocal stylings here, timeless yet very contemporary in their production. That hook is out of this world, and will surely stick with listeners long after the song fades out. Verses are simple, clean and efficient, and provide terrific imagery and sentiment. I absolutely loved this track, and I'm sure audiences will as well. Great choice for the first single. Tremendous job, all around!
