Christopher Meredith - Heart of Love
Rock, Reggae
Massachusetts, United States

Overall Impression: "The Heart of Love" is a gorgeous piano ballad from veteran composer/producer/musician Christopher Meredith's ambitious rock adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, titled Two Cities - A Rock & Roll Story of Love & Revolution. This stirring duet features exquisite male and female vocalists, at first exchanging verses before blending together impeccably over a delicate yet dynamic 12/8 arrangement of piano, acoustic guitar, electric bass and drums with light string overtones. Highlighted by an elegant melody and dazzling vocal harmonies that reinforce the exceptional lyrical content, this track uses magnificent maritime metaphors to convey its theme of everlasting romantic love with a high degree of poetry and prose, representative of the source material. Christopher Meredith's "The Heart of Love" should resonate strongly with audiences across the board, thanks to brilliant performances, impressive song craft, and incredibly polished production.

Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Stellar arrangement, nice use of rock instrumentation and voicing . Great bass tone. Piano mix is well balanced. Drum mix is perfect, crisp highs, punchy kick, just the right amount of reverb. Acoustic guitar and the synth strings add nice color. Amazing vocal performances. Unfortunately I couldn't credit the vocalists on this track, as I was unable the information on the official Two Cities website (great looking site, btw). Phenomenal job with the lyrics on this one. Incredible use of nautical imagery and metaphor. Simply a beautiful track, even taken out of the context of the completed project, this tune could stand alone and measure up to any pop/rock duet. Immediately gave me Don Henley/Stevie Nicks vibes. Fantastic job here, and on the work as a whole. Tremendous endeavor that was my honor to have been given the opportunity to review!
