Free Harmony - What the Heart Wants
Alternative/Alt. Rock, Vocal Pop, Folk Rock
Washington, United States
Overall Impression: Dynamic vocal duo Chuck Dingée and Sharon Mayson serve up a superbly performed and passionately written piece of songwriting that feels both genuinely wholesome and tremendously uplifting in nature. "What the Heart Wants" combines a solid arrangement, enthralling performances, and a superb sense of melody together to give listeners a rewarding and endearing listening experience that will undoubtedly raise spirits.
Strongest Point(s): I think it's safe to say that the marvelous chemistry between Chuck and Sharon is what lies deep at the core of "What the Heart Wants" and really is the heart and soul of the piece. These two performers complement one another extremely well, not only do their individual vocal styles provide a great contrast in terms of their unique tonal and timbral characteristics, but they manage to come together in a thoroughly engaging and harmonious way that helps to delicately carry the listener throughout. It's always great to hear artists experiment with styles and when they craft a track that borrows elements from a diverse range of genres, the results can be fascinating to listen to, and this is certainly an attribute that "What the Heart Wants" possesses. Subtle hints of folk, Americana, rock, and even Latin inspired styles are carefully woven into the track with great precision and delicacy, the brilliant nod to Flamenco around the 3:00 mark for instance is one of the many ways this track is continually rewarding its listeners, providing fresh new ideas and sounds whilst still respectfully retaining its core themes and style.
Target Audience Appeal: Lovers of Americana will certainly find "What the Heart Wants" to be a fantastic listening experience, but there is a great blend of styles on offer here that help make the track appealing to a wide range of music lovers.
Artist target suggestions: Fleetwood Mac, Frank Sinatra & Nancy Sinatra, Simon & Garfunkel, Captain & Tennile, Dollar, Peters and Lee, Mellisa Manchester, Rita Coolidge, Seals & Crofts
