Overall Impression: Detailing their time on the road and the many tales they have accumulated over the years, The Swinging Chads serve up one heck of a fun blues-fueled time that includes jazzy tinted brass, fantastic slide guitar, and excellent vocal performances. "Why You Driving This Thing" is a great homage to the classic days of blues and Americana, and most importantly, sounds like a group of musicians that are still having a blast making and performing music after such a long time, and that is always fantastic to both feel and hear.
Strongest Point(s): The instrumentation is excellent, there is a plethora of diversity in sounds and textures, and each instrument brings its own unique stylistic traits to the table. The lap steel for instance echoes both the blues and country genres whilst the brass interjects the track with a nice amount of jazzy flair, all these different hints of styles come together really well, ensuring there is plenty of variety from start to finish. The performances across the board are superb, and as aforementioned, every performer sounds as if they're simply enjoying themselves, this may seem like a simple prerequisite for musicians to have when in a band, but there are a surprising amount of times when a song may be brilliantly written, but expressed via a sub-par performance, I'm glad to say this is certainly not the case with The Swinging Chads.
Target Audience Appeal: This is a great blend of Americana and classic blues-rock and fans of these styles will have a great time with "Why You Driving This Thing".
