The Immortal 8n9 - Dead Inside
Hip Hop/Rap, Alternative Hip Hop, Horrorcore
Pennsylvania, United States
Overall Impression: "Dead Inside" is the latest release from Philadelphia based hip hop artist, The Immortal 8n9. Lyrically introspective, "Dead Inside" reflects on the daily struggle many face on a daily basis, just to keep it all together. Warped synths twist and weave around a frenetic trap beat that features a deep, warm kick and crisp hats, allowing plenty of space for The Immortal's confident and precise vocals to sit comfortably in the mix. Highlighted by a catchy hook and a clever arrangement, The Immortal 8n9's "Dead Inside" should have little trouble finding an audience among rap and hip hop fans, especially those who enjoy raw and honest lyrical content.
Strongest Point(s): Solid production, decent mix. Vocals sound exceptional, nice layering and use of fx. Fantastic delivery and flow, right on the beat with a hint of frustration and aggression that's perfect for this song. Great hook, and nice job of building around it. Excellent array of synth tones, provides a varied sonic palette that really works well in the context of the song. Nice beat design, and good variation there with the drop-ins and dropouts. Some tough subject matter, but these types of lyrical themes have been trending upwards lately, not only in rap, but in pop music as well. Overall you have a really strong track here, in a trap style that's becoming increasingly popular. Very nice work, all around!
