Chiara Foschiani - Candy Woman
Pop, Pop Electro, Alternative Pop
Paris, France

Overall Impression: Chiara Foschiani tackles an incredibly difficult and sensitive subject with both a towering level of braveness and artistic boldness that is hard not to admire. "Candy Woman" is a track that isn't afraid to take risks and aims to address its subject matter head-on without holding anything back. Under the guise of a modern pop track, Chiara cleverly contrasts her chosen theme with a contemporary pop aesthetic that at first feels jarring, yet soon begins to make perfect sense as all the track's various elements begin slotting into place. Chiara clearly has a great understanding of how to effectively utilize the various elements of her song to best strengthen her lyrical prowess, areas such as instrumentation, melody, rhythm, and texture all play an integral role in "Candy Woman" and are used to further illustrate her lyrical themes with great success.

Strongest Point(s): Thematically, I don't think there is any subject matter that nears the level of sensitivity such as the one that "Candy Woman" explores, it's a tricky area to tackle yet Chiara shows a level of courageousness in her writing that clearly helps define her as an artistic force that demands the listener's utmost attentiveness. The cleverly utilized Glockenspiel-led musical interludes that both open and close the piece definitely capture a sense of childlike innocence and its nursery rhyme-like musical qualities and playful nature definitely reinforce this idea. Chiara has clearly put great thought into the instrumentation and how different sections of the arrangement can be used to signify certain aspects of the track's main themes and again, this is a great indication of the musical maturity that Chiara clearly displays. The often brash percussive elements that are interspersed throughout the track, as well as the often frantic nature of the underlying bass line, help to create a profound sense of unease that is starkly contrasted with Chiara's highly expressive vocal style and the more delicate nature of the piano and strings that later join in the latter half of the track, culminating in an arrangement that is continually pushing and pulling in terms of tone and texture, flicking between elements of light and dark and delicate and brash.

Target Audience Appeal: Audiences who like their modern pop infused with strong and potent themes will find "Candy Woman" to be a very interesting listening experience.

Artist target suggestions: Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Pink, Sia, Troye Sivan, Demi Lovato, Fergie, Billie Elish, King Princess, Alessia Cara, Conan Grey, Lady A
