Overall Impression: "Black King" is the woke new release from hip hop artist AGII. Socially conscious lyrics meet brilliant beat design on this track that features an infectious hook and a relaxed, laid back vocal delivery. Retro synths, booming 808s, and crisp hats are further shaped by employing creative sound design techniques and expert production artistry on "Black King", giving it a very contemporary sound that modern hip hop audiences will certainly enjoy. Rap fans across the board should check out AGII's "Black King", especially those who appreciate a more mindful and artisanal touch.
Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Nice tonal balance. 808s have solid punch and good sustain in the low end. Mesmeric synths that sit well in the back of the mix. Hats and snares/claps sound nice and crispy, without being overpowering. Great hook in the chorus, very catchy. Super chill flow on the first couple of verses. The vocal on the third verse is an excellent contrasting voice. Wonderfully positive messaging in the lyrics, as well as an interesting rhyme scheme and varied meter. Fantastic arrangement, nice use of drops and downshifts. Overall, it's a great track. Very nice job, all around.
