The Whimsical Glimpse Band - Requiem for Love
Folk, Rock, Pop
Pennsylvania, United States
Overall Impression: With an eclectic and unique sound, The Whimsical Glimpse Band creates music that spans all age groups and genres from folk to rock and a mix of a little bit of everything in between, the band catalog’s offers music with a little something for everyone. The band’s latest single “Requiem for Love” combines the sounds of soft pop and classical that are reminiscent of legendary bands like Queen, Abba, and Pink Floyd. For fans of soft pop, easy listening, folk, or psychedelic rock, this is the music for you.
Strongest Point(s): The melody and instrumental performance are simple, polished, and performed beautifully. The melody and instrumental performance consist of minimal accompaniment, which includes soft chords on the keyboard that are repeated throughout the song and then kick things up a notch with some surprises toward the middle of the song featuring drums and percussion for that added rock feel. The keyboard creates soft pop sounds with bright, mellow-sounding chords, and then at 2:57 the drums and percussion kick in and bump up the rhythm, pace and tempo to the song for an almost anthemic feel. The sound is a combination of the eras of the '60s and '70s and bands like Queen, ABBA, and Pink Floyd, contributing to that effect are the lead singer's raspy vocals which contribute to and complement that sound. Together with the melody, it's certainly an earworm you won't be able to get out of your head.
