Nia John - Don't Let Go
Rock
Caerphilly, United Kingdom

Overall Impression: Having previously reviewed Wolf Storm's excellent cover of the Bonny Tyler classic, "Holding Out For Hero" I went into "Don't Let Go" with high expectations, and I'm glad to say that Nia and crew have done a fantastic job. This time around the group gets to showcase their songwriting prowess with an original tune that perfectly captures the classic sound of the power ballad. With its excellent performances, free-spirited lyrics, and undeniably uplifting nature, "Don't Let Go" is a tenderly written piece that feels both grand and assured in its execution.

Strongest Point(s): There is a great sense of synergy within the group that is definitely reflected in both the writing and performances. A definite strong sense of chemistry has been established between all players involved and this certainly helps give the track a greater sense of dynamism and purpose. Nia's commanding vocal presence is thoroughly absorbing and bears all the traits required to make a powerful rock ballad, and of course, she is backed by an extremely strong group of performers that create a melodically and rhythmically engaging musical backdrop for Nia's vocals to glide over. Particular merit must also be given to the strong arrangement, the track has a wonderfully organic flow to it that feels both smooth and well crafted, resulting in a listening experience that feels extremely well rounded.

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of strong female vocals and the timeless sound of the power ballad will have a great time with "Don't Let Go".

Artist target suggestions: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Pat Benatar, BonnieTyler, Roxette, Heart, Stevie Nicks, Lita Ford, Allanah Myles, Patti Smith, Vixen, Concrete Blonde, Florence + The Machine, Kim Carnes
