Frederick Wilfert - Our First Embrace
Alternative/Alt. Rock, Rock and Roll, Ballads
Virginia, United States

Overall Impression: Having reviewed a previous track by Frederick Wilfert, I went into "Our First Embrace" expecting another competently written and well-performed folk track that contains well-crafted lyrics and an abundance of heart, and I'm happy to say that this is exactly what I got. Frederick Wilfert offers up another marvelously charming track that warms the soul with its endearing lyrics and graceful performances and encompasses all the traits that make the folk genre what it is.

Strongest Point(s): As to be expected from a Frederick Wilfert tune, the lyrics are drenched in an undeniably strong sense of both charm and sweetness, helping to make them wholly relatable and thoroughly engaging. The lyrics are once again expressed beautifully courtesy of Fredrick's gentle execution and soothing tone, which go a long way in ensuring the lyrics are conveyed in an as delicate and likable way as possible. The music that accompanies is lovingly arranged with its engrossing harmonic movement and fantastic sense of melody and I believe the simple yet effective chosen instrumentation covers all the necessary tonal and timbral ground without overly cluttering the arrangement, making sure the focus remains on the vocals and lyrics.

Target Audience Appeal: "Our First Embrace" is a solid folk track and lovers of the style will have a lot to take away from the song.

Artist target suggestions: Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, Simon & Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Neil Young, George Harrison, John Mellencamp, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, Loggins & Messina
