Peter Demuth - Time to open up
Alternative/Alt.Rock, Folk, Pop, Acoustic Rock
Illinois, United States
Overall Impression: Peter Demuth gives us the infectious and danceable "Time to open up" with its high energy, spirit and defiant nature of acoustic guitar British Folk Rock from the 60s and 70s, with timely lyrics. Peter expresses his optimist and need for redemption through his velvety youthful voice and melodic guitar performance, in his quest for change and vulnerability after the fall. "Time to open up" is about letting go of old habits and striving for growth and wisdom. "Time to open" up has a lovely quality of nostalgia, reminiscent of the early days of artists like Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan, with a simple yet powerful message -- how love can give courage when facing fears about change - so we must open up and trust the process to "let the healing begin." This is a fun singer-songwriter type song that you might find yourself not only singing along with, but also trying to learn on your guitar.
Strongest Point(s): One of the first things that stood out to me include the melodic guitars and harmonies, and what a great refrain. Peter has a lovely voice and fantastic pitch. The arrangement is really great too, with the simplicity of guitars and the absence of drums or anything else, and the recording quality is stellar. Really loved it! I hope it's part of a larger collection. And as stated in my overall impression: this could be a fun song to teach the guitar on a YouTube channel. I know it's a random idea, but I thought I'd throw it out there because I am currently learning the guitar and would love to learn the keys to this song because of the simplicity yet nice chord progression and changes.
Target Audience Appeal: This song will appeal to audiences who love Folk, Folk Rock, Progressive Rock, Americana and especially British Rock. This is for the sophisticated listener, -- those who love artists like Bob Dylan and George Harrison, treasuring a good guitar arrangements and performance, and pays close attention to lyrics. I see this circulating on digital Contemporary Folk Rock playlists, playing at coffee houses, and this song is meant to be performed for live audiences with its danceable quality. This song is for people who love indie cinema and love to daydream, people who love Celtic culture and have an affinity for the 60s and 70s culture and instrumental music.
