Freeman Vanson - Portrait
Rock, Psych Folk, Math Folk
London, United Kingdom
Overall Impression: Freeman Vanson is giving us some serious British retro vibes in the Psychedelic rock groove "Portrait" which sounds so authentic, one might think it was recorded in the 1960s. This single will satisfy the appetite of fans of The Who, The Kinks, Jethro Tull, and especially lovers of the Grateful Dead, with the enigmatic lyrics found in "Portrait."
Strongest Point(s): The voice is distinct in style and catchy/memorable refrain with it's nice chord arrangement. The lyrics are really nice and poetic, and I love that they are just mysterious enough that one can have their own individual interpretation. It's refreshing! Too many artists today seem to underestimate the audience's intelligence with lyrics that are dumbed-down or spelled out. Great work! And love the total shift around the 3:45 mark, giving me nostalgia of Jethro Tull tunes.
Target Audience Appeal: "Portrait" will speak to audiences who love 60s British Rock, Glam Rock, Prog rock
Artist target suggestions: The Who, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Waterboys, Jethro Tull, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Fairport Convention, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Byrds, The Troggs, The Monkees, The Doors, The Creation, The Grateful Dead, MGMT
