Michael S. Burns - Good-Bye America
Folk, Americana, Protest
Mississippi, United States

Overall Impression: Michael S. Burns has written a beautiful and revolutionary song! Good-Bye America has powerful lyrics that send a clear message that protests the path our country has been heading down for many years. The artist mentions that this nation is built by immigrants in the beginning of the song, and then mentions immigrants again at the end, tying it all together; this is especially interesting regarding what is happening politically in the U.S. right now. Overall, I think this is a nicely written and well executed song!

Strongest Point(s): Michael S. Burns has a beautiful and passionate voice, and his piano skills are tremendous! Not only that, but the quality of recording is tremendous for recording in a living room! The structure of the song is definitely unlike most, but I believe that it fits nicely with the general feel of this song. The artist has written creative lyrics that make the audience really think about what they are listening to; personally, I don't see the need to change the lyrics at any point, and I find it unique and fitting that they don't always rhyme. I was singing along after I was listening to the song a few times; it really is a beautiful song!

Target Audience Appeal: This is a good song to sit down, listen, and just think about everything that has happened and wonder what will happen. It is indeed political, but it is something that people need to hear and understand. I think people of all ages would really enjoy this song, especially those who like protest music and/or soft rock.

Artist target suggestions: Bob Dylan, Bon Iver, Devendra Banhart, Iron & Wine, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Randy Newman, Simon & Garfunkel, Woody Guthrie, Don McLean, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson
