Sylvan EDUK - Baikal Zen
Dance/Electronica, Chill, Ambient
Sidmouth, United Kingdom
Overall Impression: Sylvan EDUK takes the listener on a hypnotic aural journey, with the release of his single "Baikal Zen." Beginning with a sinister drone, this ambient electronic track opens up around the one minute mark with the introduction of a bouncy bass line and syncopated ride rhythms. Organic synthesizers bubble and rise to the surface, only to recede into the primordial ooze just as quickly as they'd emerged. Intricate lines intertwine to weave a tapestry full of color and oddities on this incredibly textured and complex composition. Fans of left of center electronica and ambient psychedelia will surely find a lot to love about this track, and should check out "Balkai Zen" from producer Sylvan EDUK as quickly as possible. They will not be disappointed.
Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Great vibe on this one. It starts off somewhat dark and ends on a much lighter tone, giving the listener a sense that the trip was vey much worth the taking. Fantastic palette of sounds employed here, and they mesh together well. Nice layering of synths. The "trashy" hats/cymbals sound really good, those and the cleaner hats both cut through the mix nicely. The arrangement is super engaging, as there's a nice thematic flow that carries throughout, mainly held together by the bass line. The filtered rhythmic synths do a good job of reinforcing that motif as well. Overall, its a great piece of work, stellar job!
