Rogue Monkey - Renegade
Rock
London, United Kingdom
Overall Impression: With plenty of catchy hooks, meaty riffs, and oodles of attitude, "Renegade" is a brilliant slice of classic hard-edged rock that effortlessly combines its unbridled sense of energy with both lyrical bite and a marvelously unapologetic demeanor. Rogue Monkey offers up a toe-tapping, head-banging good time that would no doubt be great to see live. Great work!
Strongest Point(s): I have already touched upon this, but a particular highlight of "Renegade" is its great sense of energy, if a rock track can get you nodding your head and tapping your foot along to its rhythm then its obviously doing something very right, and I'm glad to say that this is certainly the case here. The performances are definitely the main contributing factor to why "Renegade" works so well, from the chunky rhythm guitars to the pumping bass, the bombastic drums to the animated vocal performance, all these elements combine to make for an engaging and solid performance that's full of character and spirit. The track has some excellent details in its songwriting, for example, the rhythm guitars smartly swap out the power chords in the verse sections with a more ambient arpeggiated chord progression in the chorus sections, causing a significant change in the songs overall texture. The middle interlude also works very well, helping to create a great amount of contrast with the rest of the track by stripping back the instrumentation and lowering the energy levels before kicking back in full throttle.
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of classic and alternative rock will have a great time with "Renegade"
Artist target suggestions: AC/DC, Airbourne, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Black Stone Cherry, Rhino Bucket, The Darkness, Blackfoot, Bulletboys, Alice Cooper, Ratt
