Peter Rappoli - Takes My Breath Away
Rock
Massachusetts, United States

Overall Impression: "There is always a sense of raw honesty in a Peter Rappoli track that I can't help but admire, there is a certain "down to earth" quality that feels both relatable and introspective, and I get that very same feeling when listening to "Take My Breath Away". There are certainly some great ideas in "Takes My Breath Away" that deserve praise and the combination of Peter Rappoli's unique and subdued vocal style along with his inspired lyric writing make a great combo

Strongest Point(s): Contrast plays a rather important role in the track and helps create a stark distinction between its various sections, for example, the harmonically darker edge that the verse possesses is followed by a more positive-sounding chorus section that feels significantly lighter than what preceded it, this switch from a tonally darker shade to lighter and back again keeps the listener on edge, which can be a powerful songwriting tool. I have mentioned this already in a previous review, but I do think the understated quality of Peter's vocals fits his lyric writing style perfectly and both elements feel extremely well connected and intricately woven together.

Target Audience Appeal: This definitely feels closely aligned to the alternative rock genre, it bears many of the style's trademarks and certainly fits into that particular corner of the rock spectrum.

Artist target suggestions: Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed & The Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, Nico, Jonathan Richman, Love, The Fall, Warren Zevon, Nick Cave, Grinderman, The Birthday Party, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Morphine, Swans, Rowland S.Howard
