Azeem The Chosen One - In The Dark
Reggae, Pop, R&B
Georgia, Unites States
Overall Impression: “Music is food for the soul” at least that’s the credo of artist Azeem The Chosen One. For Azeem, the beat and the rhythm are what excites and fuels and inspires the song itself. Azeem is an artist that experiments with various genres and styles but is rooted in Reggae, pop, and R&B. With his latest single, “In the Dark”, has a very different feel with a retro sixties and reminiscent of bands like The Beach Boys.
Strongest Point(s): The song has a nice, flowing, upbeat melody but the smooth and tight vocals and Azeem's sweet, soulful voice has a great tone one that's higher in pitch but perfectly balanced within the melody and composition of the song. The instrumentation is also a highlight that completes the song. The song has a good tempo and rhythm and with various sounds and instruments used within the song, it never gets boring. The song contains lots of melodic layers, textures, and changes. The song has a Caribbean, island, and Jamaican feel, from the chanting and humming sounds so sweet in the beginning it's almost angelic, and then changes to a deeper textured raspiness reminiscent of artists like Sting. The Keyboard follows suit as well since it plays deeper, bass-like notes that are staccato-like in structure. From the guitar and keyboard, and a bluesy jazz element, this song is well-crafted and performed and offers a little bit for everyone.
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Reggae, pop Reggae, and R&B
