Overall Impression: "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR" is the latest release from the talented singer/songwriter Adrienne Cooper Ewing. Featuring a sultry and soulful r&b groove that's punctuated by some tasty piano licks, this soon-to-be classic love song is the perfect vehicle for her silky smooth voice. Highlighted by an incredibly engaging bridge, this tune really shows off Cooper Ewing's impressive songwriting chops. Sophisticated enough for adult listeners, yet sensual enough for a younger audience, Adrienne Cooper Ewing's "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR" should appeal to r&b fans of all ages and backgrounds.
Strongest Point(s): Solid production, save for the vox, which I'll get into more depth in the next section. The vocal performance itself was very good, however. Instruments sound great, really nice mix on the backing tracks. Bass has good definition, drums sound sharp, and the little guitar and piano flourishes are nice touches. Daughter's flute was a nice addition as well. Outstanding bridge, really sets this song apart. Breaks up the arrangement wonderfully, and provides delightful rhythmic and harmonic contrast. The production choice to fade the instruments ahead of the vocal was a good one, very effective technique. Lyrically, I felt it was strong, especially in your phrasing. Overall, excellent song and a great track. Just needs a little polish on the vocal mix. Fantastic job all around!
