Mellowe - Few Words (a Music Idea) Rm.
R&B, Pop, Jazz
Hamburg, Germany
Overall Impression: From the opening choir figure to the slow fade at the end, Mellowe takes the listener on an eclectic musical journey that transcends genre by fusing electronic afro house rhythms with elements of funk and jazz, creating a unique and incredibly engaging backdrop for a world class vocal performance on his latest release, "Few Words." Intricately layered vocal parts come together beautifully on this track, to build a rich and robust sound that's accentuated by synth bass and electric piano, with the aforementioned electronic percussion laying down a groove that's as interesting as it is danceable. Mellowe sings "I'm a man of few words" on the hook, and then proves that statement to be valid, by delivering a wonderfully realized syllabic section that falls in line with the great jazz tradition of scat singing. Modern jazz fans of all sorts, especially those who favor contemporary vocal and electro-jazz, need to check out Mellowe's "Few Words", posthaste.
