i.O. Underground - Coming Apart
Pop
Colorado, United States
Overall Impression: With its exceptionally strong performances across the board, diverse melodic content, and mature sense of songwriting, "Coming Apart" is an anthemic rocker that you can't help but nod your head to. I.0 Underground has conjured up an infectiously catchy tune that weaves its diverse ideas together seamlessly, great work!
Strongest Point(s): Firstly, the performances are excellent, the vocals show great control over tone and dynamics and are strengthened by equally strong backing vocals. This is obviously a group with great chemistry and you can really feel that shine through, all parts are working together in great synergy and the outcome is one of sonic brilliance. The arrangement is excellent and flows extremely well, sections transition into one another effortlessly and the variety between the aforementioned sections is superb, using a host of different writing techniques to create diversity shows a great sense of maturity in the songwriting. The way the instrumentation is used to create texturally different soundscapes between different parts of the song is inspired, keeping things sparse in the intro and verse before thickening up the instrumentation for the chorus works very well and creates a marvelous sense of urgency, grabbing the listener as a result. The production and overall mix are flawless, managing to capture the nuance and intricacies of the individual performances without losing the feel, sometimes with a track of this nature, there's a chance of it being over polished, which in turn can cause a disengagement between the artist and listener, this is definitely not the case here, this feels like a live performance and as a result, keeps the listener engaged and continually invested throughout, marvelous!
Target Audience Appeal: This will definitely appeal to fans of Alt-Rock and Indie genres and these are certainly the main areas to focus on.
Artist target suggestions: Thirty Seconds To Mars Imagine Dragons, Muse, Twenty One Pilots, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, The Neighbourhood, Walk The Moon, OneRepublic, The Script
