Faith Crusader - I Wasn't Born To Be Loved
Alternative/Alt. Rock, Hip Hop/Rap, Rock
Colorado, United States
Overall Impression: "I Wasn't Born to Be Loved" is a heartfelt new release, from Colorado based artist Faith Crusader. Highlighted by an impassioned vocal performance, this country tinged power ballad deals with the realization and recognition of one's past romantic failures, thus making peace with said failures. "I Wasn't Born to Be Loved" features a dynamic arrangement that builds gradually, starting with a simple acoustic guitar riff and drumbeat in the verse, then expanding to a full sonic palette with the additions of distorted guitars and soaring vocal harmonies in a chorus that is just begging for a singalong. Faith Crusader's "I Wasn't Born to Be Loved" should have broad audience appeal, including fans of rock, pop, and country music.
Strongest Point(s): First off, outstanding production. Really solid mix, nice tonal balance. Vocal sounds amazing, you've got great character and tone. The background harmony layers really make this track come alive. The guitars mesh well, good variety and coloring between the acoustic, the clean electric lead, and the distorted power chords in the chorus. The beat is somewhat atypical, but it works really well here. The contrast between the verse and chorus is great. Lyrically, theres a level of depth to this song. At first listen, i thought it was more of a self pity, "woe is me" sort of thing, but after a couple more passes I understood the intent. It's more about acceptance and reconciliation, which is a very interesting and unique take on the classic "heartbreak" theme. Melodically, I felt this tune really shined. You seem to have a very good melodic sensibility, which is why I felt this track could have some pop appeal. Overall, it's a very good track that showcases your abilities as both a writer and a singer. Excellent job!
