Divine Dynamics - Albertine
Christian/Gospel, Contemporary Christian Pop, Spiritual
Ohio, United States
Overall Impression: Wonderfully melodic and led by an excellent lead vocal performance, "Albertine" is a fantastic effort by Divine Dynamics, blending elements of gospel, soul, r&b, and Christian genres together to create a harmonically rich and poignant track that is both well put together and boasting a great amount of heart and soul, great stuff!
Strongest Point(s): The lead vocals have a great amount of heart to them and fit the style of the track exceptionally well. Both delicate and nuanced, they express the lyrics beautifully and combine heartfelt sentiment with highly emotional expression, brilliant! There is a great amount of interesting melodic and harmonic ideas throughout and there are definite themes that are well developed and have had very obvious thought gone into them, this is a clear sign of good songwriting and melodic awareness. The instrumentation is particularly strong, there is a great amount of variety in tone and timbre between the diverse range of instruments that are on offer, the soft string section, the r&b style drums, the delicate tone of the acoustic guitar, all these elements combine to make a texturally rich musical backing for the vocal lines to flow over. The instrumentation is also put to good use when it comes to making the arrangement continually interesting for the listener, as an example stripping back the instrumentation at 1:58 creates an interesting contrast to the sections that both precede and follow and the way the track slowly builds up from then on makes for a greater impact. There is an abundance of strong ideas from start to finish and it's clear that Divine Dynamics have an undoubted natural skill when it comes to crafting an emotionally driven tune, I hope they continue to hone their craft and build upon the strong foundation that is clearly evident in this strong effort, well done!
Target Audience Appeal: The lyrical subject matter will certainly appeal to fans of Christian-based music genres and the general feel of the track nicely places it within soul and r&b styles as well.
Artist target suggestions: Amy Grant, Kory Hawthorne, Point Of Grace, Anita Wilson, Coko, Jessica Reedy, Mary Mary, Virtue, Mary J. Blige, Tasha Page-Lockheart, CeCe Winans, Byron Cage, Karen Clark Sheard, Yolanda Adams
