Dave Darque - One More High
Rock, Pop
Trondheim, Norway

Overall Impression: Veteran Norwegian recording artist Dave Darque brings us "One More High", an exciting single from his 2014 album entitled The Eastern Woods. Done in a style that recalls many of the 1980s New Romantic pop and rock bands that emerged from the post punk scene, "One More High" uses elements from that era to tell a stirring tale of faded love. Lush synth arrangements are colored by overdriven guitars and propelled by tastefully programmed drums, providing the perfect musical context for Darque's crystal clear tenor. Fans of pop and rock from the 1980s should find a lot to like about Dave Darque's "One More High"

Strongest Point(s): Very nice production, solid mix. Great arrangement and instrumentation. Good distinction between the verse and the chorus, each have their own character, both rhythmically and harmonically. It's a very strong melody, which was really the hallmark of the music from that era that you are reviving, so excellent job there. There's some really nice imagery and prose lyrically, as well. All in all, this is an excellent song and a solid track!

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Pop, Pop Rock, New Romantic, Classic 80s Pop, Classic 80s Rock, Progressive Rock, Synth Pop, New Wave

Artist target suggestions: Spandau Ballet, ABC, Gary Numan, Pet Shop Boys, The Cars, Japan, Human League, Roxy Music, Icehouse, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, Thomas Dolby, Visage
