Skol - Beware The Monster
Pop, Rock
California, United States
Overall Impression: With its crushing guitar riffs, strong vocal performance, and interesting blending of styles, "Beware The Monster" is an anthemic rocker that you can't help but nod your head and tap your foot to. Skol has expertly fused a number of genres together to craft an incredibly catchy song that I thoroughly enjoyed, great work!
Strongest Point(s): To start with, the vocal performance is very strong and shows great depth and versatility throughout, if I'm not mistaken, the lead vocalist is also performing the backing vocals, which is a perfect example of how great the dynamic and tonal control is. The horror-inspired lyrics fit the music brilliantly and are expressed with both confidence and conviction. I particularly like the way different genres have been melded together, there are elements of rock, metal, gothic, industrial, and pop here that result in a very unique-sounding song that requires multiple listen-throughs in order to pick up on the subtle references. The instrumentation is well chosen and showcases a great amount of variety in both texture and timbre, the gritty distorted rhythm guitars, the gothic sounding synth, the thick commanding bass, and the pounding drums make for an absolute hard-hitter of a track, excellent!
Target Audience Appeal: I would say this specific track definitely gravitates towards the hard rock genres and that certainly be the main area to target, however, there are also elements of metal, industrial, alt-rock, and pop here. The included artists in your artist targets list are quite the far cry from this particular style of song, so it's definitely best to narrow the field down to similar-sounding artists.
Artist target suggestions: Lordi, Ghost, White Zombie, Ministry, Marilyn Manson, Mudvayne, Danzig, Type O Negative, Swans, The Cult, Slipknot, Disturbed, Nickelback, Rammstein
