Human Race - The Year of 76
Pop, Rock
Brattvåg, Norway

Overall Impression: "The Year of 76" is the latest release, from Norwegian recording artist Svein Hansen, better known as Human Race. This nostalgic synth pop track takes a long look back at Cold War era Germany, specifically a divided Berlin. Featuring an 80s style pop arrangement and a gorgeous tenor lead vocal, "The Year of 76" conjures up images of eighties radio staples, such as Spandau Ballet and ABC. Thanks to this, "The Year of 76" from Human Race should have no problem finding an audience among fans of 80s pop and rock, as well as listeners just looking for a glimpse at history.

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, lots of different elements at play here. Nice mix with good tonal balance. Classic pop structure. The vocal sounds fantastic. Strong melody, both in the verse and in the chorus. Outstanding arrangement and instrumentation. The guitars and synths blend beautifully to create a nice wall of sound. The lyrical content fits perfectly within this musical context. In general, a very solid track. Great piece of work!
