Overall Impression: Led with an incredibly strong lead vocal performance and fusing genres to create a unique sounding end result, " Impostor " is a melodically charged, genre-melding Christian anthem that you can't help but nod your head and tap your foot too. 2 Moon has constructed a catchy and energetic piece of songwriting that is both confident and mature in its delivery.
Strongest Point(s): It goes without saying that there is sophistication in the song's melodic ideas and how they are expressed, this really helps the song stand itself apart from similar tunes and provides a certain uniqueness that is refreshing to the listener. Beginning with an ominous-sounding opening melody that smartly uses subtle chromaticism to create a slightly dark atmosphere, then smoothly transitioning to a lighter shade when the vocals kick in, this is a song rich in melodic development and is adventurous in its approach to harmony, often going to places not always expected. The way different genres have been melded together is excellent, combining elements of Dance, Gospel, Soul, R&B, and Pop, the song is always varied and provides great diversity. The production is strong and has a nice amount of polish and clarity whilst still retaining a certain grittiness that adds to the song's uniqueness. The vocal performance is extremely strong and shows great range and tonal control.
Target Audience Appeal: This certainly will appeal to fans of Christian-based music, but also there is a lot of elements that many other fans will be able to appreciate here, targeting Gospel, Soul, and Pop/R&B is also worth doing, as stylistically this song can appeal to a wide audience.
