Moonlight Rhythm Society - Allison
Pop, Jazz
Krugersdorp, South Africa
Overall Impression: "Allison" is the latest release from the global musician collective, Moonlight Rhythm Society. A groovy jazz pop track that recalls a time in the late 1970s when artists like George Benson and Steely Dan ruled the airwaves, "Allison" honors that era with its smooth and accessible sound. Lush jazz harmonies and a tight, funky rhythm section support a fantastic vocal melody that delivers poetic and introspective lyrics. "High times in my head" is the hook, in a spectacular chorus that really hammers this tune home. Highlighted by a wonderful horn arrangement, lovely background vocals, and some tasty guitar work, "Allison" from Moonlight Rhythm Society provides a much needed revival of a classic sound that has sadly been absent from popular music in recent years.
Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, everything sounds great. Nice warm sound, good tonal balance. Killer groove, bass and drums are locked in and sounding great, the guitar providing nice fills and accents. I really love the melody, and the vocal performance is right on point. Horns and background vox do a great job of filling out the sound. Chorus hook is phenomenal, it gets right into the ear. The bridge is a great variation and diversion. Overall an amazing song and an excellent track, very nice!
