Denis James - Slippery When Wet
Rock, Rock Alternative
Adelaide, Australia
Overall Impression: I loved this song. It's so much fun! It's good old fashioned punk rock that evokes the spirit of Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, with Slippery When Wet's humorous colorful lyrics and fast punk guitar. There are also elements of glam rock, with the vocalist's theatrical flare in his interpretation. Slippery When Wet also has a really fun old school rock and roll beat to it, which will be appreciate by anyone who loves to dance or loves artists like Tom Petty.
Strongest Point(s): The lyrics are just great -- the song has a sing-along quality to it. The instrumental performance, especially the guitar, are perfectly executed. This song is great as it is now, a finished product. It's ready to be promoted!
Target Audience Appeal: This song will appeal to people who love rock and roll, glam rock, punk, heavy metal, rock operas and rock musicals like Rock of Ages, Rocky Horror or Hedwig. So, there's a wide audience appeal, given that all the genres mentioned have a massive and loyal following. People who enjoy American rock icons like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, will also love this song. All that said, I imagine that the typical audience for Slippery When Wet, are folks that love to go concerts to see live performances. It's a fun song for a fun crowd of all ages, but especially more mature audiences (30+). This will also speak to people some who love heavy metal.
Artist target suggestions: Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Brian Eno, Richard O'Brien, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Robert Palmer, Lou Reed, The Cars, Gary Numan, The Ramones, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Gary Wilson, D.O.A.
