Megan Wheeler - Replaced
Pop
Florida, United States
Overall Impression: The song begins like a dream, ethereal, dreamy with strong powerful chords and just makes you stop think, pause, and appreciate the beauty in the music before Wheeler even sings one single note. Sixteen-year-old Megan Wheeler sounds more experienced and wiser beyond her years with rich vocals and a bit of rasp in her voice. Her variations in pitch and articulation blends melodies and harmonies together nicely but can get a bit pitchy only a few times. Nonetheless, the harmonies are beautiful like echoes in the ether. "Replaced" is further complemented by Wheeler’s vocal runs which are scattered throughout the song. The song displays the young songbird’s foray into womanhood and the teen angst that it brings. Much like the melodies and harmonies, every aspect of the song creates a rhythm and flow that ends in a beautifully composed and executed song. Considering her age, if Megan continues to work at her already amazing craft, I believe she could be the next breakout artist of a new singer/songwriter generation.
Strongest Point(s): The melody and rhythm bring a softness and simplicity with well thought out chords matching the fragile, feminine sound. Wheeler's vocals seem to stay in rhythm and tone with the chords being played and remain constant throughout the song. Megan's vocal timbre is quite unique!
Target Audience Appeal: This song would absolutely do well on mainstream radio as it's beautiful arranged and mastered. Replaced will find fans in listeners of female singer/songwriters like Taylor Swift, The Cranberries, Fiona Apple, Sia, Natasha Bedingfield, Vanessa Carlton, etc.
Artist target suggestions: Passion Pit, Feist, Anna Nalick, Christina Perri, Gina Scipione, Hailee Steinfeld, Julia Michaels, Sia, Jessie J, Rita Ora, Kelly Clarkson, Grace Vanderwaal, Slow Moving Millie
