The band Righteous Hillbillies formed in 2007. The lineup of Righteous Hillbillies consists of Brent James, a singer and songwriter bringing together such seemingly disparate elements as hard rock, country, with rhythm and blues to form an unforgettable style. Also keeping the rhythm on guitar, James is a charismatic but commanding front man, steering the Southern Rock ship to conquer new territory at every concert. By his side is Nick Normando, a prodigy and lead guitarist who received his baptism in blood while growing up playing the blues. Righteous Hillbillies have now cut the leash, and Normando is free to run with the pack, bringing all his ferocious power and unpredictable virtuosity to the stage and studio. Jeff Bella pours the foundation on the bass, knowing when to inject color and character into the music, behind Bella is Barret Harvey – a thunderous powerhouse whose drumming ability is steady as a pulse, but equally dynamic. Jose Caridad Hernandez , better known as “Perico”, is a sonero/percussionist/composer/songwriter who creates “organic cuban music.” Born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Perico is the second to the youngest of twelve siblings and the only one who became a musician. Perico began his musical training as a young boy in Havana. He watched the street rumberos creating amazing rhythms on the “tumbadoras” (congas), and after watching Patato Valdez play congas on a TV show, Perico decided that’s what he wanted to do. Perico gradually learned from the “rumberos” and at age 14 became the conguero for a neighborhood group, Conjunto Monte Carlo. He was eventually recruited to play with the popular Conjunto Casino. Regarding his nickname Perico, he tells the story that as a kid he walked around the neighborhood with an elderly man called “Perico.” Pretty soon the neighbors started saying “Here come Perico y Periquito.” Perico has said “Maybe the name was meant to be because I’m now a sonero and...
Temptresssun - Endless Talks (Debate) Alternative/Alt. Rock, Indie rock/Folk, Classical Cairo, Egypt Overall Impression: Thoroughly absorbing and deeply atmospheric from start to start, Temptresssun's ambient post-rock/alternative instrumental "Endless Talks (Debate)" is a forever evolving piece of songwriting that makes superb use of its delay-drenched guitar layers, reverb-engulfed synth pads, dreamlike sound design, and free-flowing melodic expeditions. "Endless Talks (Debate) feels very much like a journey, yet the destination is unknown, making for a deeply mysterious and somewhat ghostly musical landscape in which the listener must navigate. Temptresssun invites listeners to enter his dreamlike world of engrossing tonal layers and organic textures, and it's a world I'm happy to get lost in. Strongest Point(s): Compared to pieces of music with an identifiable vocal performance at its forefront, instrumental music is a wholly di...
