CMJ & Jango PopScore

We are pleased to announce that we have just delivered the most recent and highest PopScores of hundreds of Jango Airplay bands to the CMJ Showcase Department in an effort to help them find the best Possible bands to play at this year's CMJ Music Marathon happening in New York City from October 19th - 23rd.

CMJ will be announcing the lineups soon so keeps your eyes peeled.

Find more info on the CMJ Music Marathon...HERE

Drop us a line in the comments if you are planning on attending CMJ or you have submitted your band.

Hope to see you there !!!

Little confusing. In the first paragraph you say that you will submit the bands based on popscore, but then in the next to last statement you request us to drop you a line if WE have submitted our bands.

Are you talking about submitting your band through another means here? If so, you should mention this.

I believe CMJ submission is thru sonicbids.com. Jango is just helping the sonicbids bands by reporting playcounts and pop scores so that promoters can see them. At least thats my take on it.

we submitted to CMJ a long time ago and our popscores have been good, but they can vary quite a bit week-to-week. Does CMJ receive any history on our scores? I hope so.

I think it all is BS!

I emailed Erin to find out and here's the deal. For each band it's their most recent full week pop score and the highest one that the band received so far

I've submitted to CMJ and my status is now "Highly Interested" - I however just got turned on to this whole Jango setup... Love the site and the support, though hope it doesn't hurt my prospects without my 'airplay' rolling yet. Please consider this project - a debut album, great press, and an entire film series is on the way!!! Check it out.

Most truly yours,

I have not received a POPSCORE in the past month although I've had more than 100 paid plays each week. How does this affect me? Have I been cheated out of opportunities due the jango's error? Can someone help me with this issue.

Sherl,

You had more than 100 paid plays. Is that total of all songs or for one song.
Remember you now need at least 100 plays for at least 1 song to qualify. Think it used to be at least one song needed 50 paid plays.
If you had a total of 100 paid plays counting up all songs then you would not qualify for a pop score.

What's up guys? I used to do well under the old popscore system, but ever since jango changed it I can't seems to get a good score nor any free play credits, although i've been using more play credits. So, besides making good music guys, what's the secret now to getting a good score and free play credits? I would also like to know when is jango going to implement a system that will reach more than just one fan at a time per play credit kind of like a regular over the air radio broadcast, since they're updating their systems? From: Slo Moshion !!!

Dear Jango,

This is Gloria B Young and vow of faith,
We don't understand your scoring system, since we have been on Jango we have received more 1200 paid credit per week, but our pop score is only saying 60, can you please explain that to us. And will would like to be on the Concert in New York, In OCt.

Sincerely,

We're hoping to play but just signed up to Jango and don't really have enough time/plays to have built up the best popscore, despite having tons of fans and likes. Also, because for a few days we had no credits, our Popscore was unfairly negatively influenced from 80 to 58, which makes no sense given the number of new fans and likes we had relative to the number of plays. That CMJ would use this as a sort of SAT score for admission is ludicrous. It should only be about the friggin music, and if they don't have time to listen to the submissions and make up their own minds, then what value is the CMJ anyway?

I'll keep my money in the bank thank you.

Probably 99% of all the bands selected to play CMJ have already been chosen based on the CMJ Charts. Sonicbids dangles this "carrot" in order to further separate poor musicians from their money.
