This week we highlight a group brought to our attention by Carina in Marketing.



Carina says - "Anybody Out There" really caught my attention when it first came on! As a huge fan of Maroon 5, "Nothing But Static" is also on my lists of favorites -- fresh, dynamic songs that make a nice addition to my day here at Jango.

Jose Caridad Hernandez , better known as “Perico”, is a sonero/percussionist/composer/songwriter who creates “organic  cuban music.” Born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Perico is the second to the youngest of twelve siblings and the only one who became a musician. Perico began his musical training as a young boy in Havana.  He watched the street rumberos creating amazing rhythms on the “tumbadoras” (congas), and after watching Patato Valdez play congas on a TV show, Perico decided that’s what he wanted to do. Perico gradually learned from the “rumberos” and at age 14 became the conguero for a neighborhood group, Conjunto Monte Carlo. He was eventually recruited to play with the popular Conjunto Casino. The band Righteous Hillbillies formed in 2007. The lineup of Righteous Hillbillies consists of Brent James, a singer and songwriter bringing together such seemingly disparate elements as hard rock, country, with rhythm and blues to form an unforgettable style. Also keeping the rhythm on guitar, James is a charismatic but commanding front man, steering the Southern Rock ship to conquer new territory at every concert. By his side is Nick Normando, a prodigy and lead guitarist who received his baptism in blood while growing up playing the blues.
