This will be our second year going. It's a huge mess but a lot of fun. Jango should put together a showcase!

Some of the worst local acts from southern California I have EVER seen have been "showcased" at SXSW, while the talented acts don't have the connections to get a slot there. Good luck!

SXSW SUCKS!
This pay for play idea is all wrong. I want to hear good music by talented artists, not a lot of noise by rich artists that I would never buy.

Crazy comments . This will be my first year at the SXSW. Im in a song contest for $2000. I hope to win with my new hit single " HIT ME ON MY FACE BOOK" that is played on Jango.com as well as 103.3 Charlotte Radio. So come out to Klub Krucil on Tuesday March 13th and lets put this marketing opportunity to work.

Played twice in the mid 90's with Letty Guval in a Tejano Showcase. Since then been denied 4 years in a row for Alternative Pop Rock Lorissa Chapa. Mixed feelings about this festival. I probably won't submit any more artists.

This will be a great event, only one problem, what about the new Jango artists who stay in Virginia? Why are all these festive events so far out of town? There are so many genres of bands, are these events only for popular pop/rock bands? Our band family is new to Jango for several weeks now and across the globe we are being tuned into by a mass count of listeners. Is Jango airplay a place that gathers up as many artists as it can only for the cause of station popularity? Will any named producers and promoters ever listen to or call any new artists?

Meri Everitt said...

I will be there. Playing on tues. Been last 2 years. Love it. Meri everitt. My band is called flying kangaroo alliance in case u Wanna Google us but I will be doing a solo set at a dark acoustic daytime show... meri everitt.

Debbie said...

I went last year and it's lots of fun but most showcasing bands are not so good. We managed to get on an early slot at Banger's Beer Garden this year though. Itll be an acoustic set which is good bc we won't have to bring a ton of equiptment :D See you all there!

Any Christian bands? I'm a Christian artist.. thinking maybe the "Heartless Bastards" or the "Devil Drivers" might not be optimal for me to put my music alongside... :)

Not taking nothing from nobody but there is a lot of good talent that don't have the connections to get showcased. Like myself!

Paparaja said...

Tyagaraja has played "off broadway" for three years in a row. This year we play two shows:
The Professors Couch Party at Old Music Gym on the 15th
the Convoy Groups Houston Invasion at Gypsy Lounge the 16th
