Congrats to all five. But I sure find it interesting that John Maison can be one of the top 5 while he has only 40 fans. How does that work?

I would also be interested to know the answer to the question posed above. I've been actively working an artist that was blessed enough to make this list. And it's been a build for sure... but I have to believe the success that we are seeing is fan-driven (I hope)

the top five are measured week to week, not over time, so it's how many fans you got that week based on the amount of plays you got...

So the minimum is 250 plays for $10. That's a great ratio at 40 fans. If it's 1000 for $30 it's 4%. If that were the case, there'd be more than 41 today.

Congrats to all 5 who made the popscore.

PopScore topper with only 40 fans? Those 40 accrued over 3 weeks -- or 13 fans each week. If pacing is spot-on, 250 spins a month=58 per week (just enough to qualify for PopScore). Racking up 13 fans on 58 spins is certainly possible (as a statistical outlier -- 22%!), but not 3 weeks running. 1000 spins/month (233 spins/13 fans -- 5.6%) is too low. Premium Targeting would halve the # of spins: 116 spins/13 fans -- that's 11.2% and a winning PopScore.

In theory, PopScore is a measure of how big a fish you are in whatever size pond you swim in. Pick a small pond, target only a few fish...and you're on your way to the Top! Yes, it's ironic that the PopScore rewards the least-heard of Jango artistts -- that just 13 votes can win a "popularity" contest -- but hey: that's the game.

-I [heart] math.

I have performed in the top ccm venues in dallas and the sleeziest coffee bars and that reminds me of the pop score rating system. Targeting, hmm, reminds me of playing in churches.I can't sing "Revival is on It's Way" in a Baptist church cause of the lyrics so targeting seems like denominations...... bobby taylor/texas

How many plays have Skyrocket Love purchased to have over 20,000 fans? Really, I want to know please.

I agree that the most important thing is the music, but as there IS a popscore, it should be more transparent. And considering how much money some of us spend each month for plays in a bid to reach more people, it is definitely of interest to know how it is that some guy with 40 fans gets to the top 5 and wins a slew of free plays as a result. I'd sure like a thousand free plays instead of the 50 we standardly get every week.

When is the PopScore updated? How often? What time of day? My play stats finally updated last night, but PopScore hasn't changed.
